Lilacs - Still Life
I continue to study still life painting through Dan Edmondson's online course. I love the rich darks and beautiful colors in these paintings. This one is on an 18" x 18" stretched canvas. Medium is walnut oil. Colors are predominately Rembrandt, with a Permanent Purple by Gamblin added to the regular palette that was a big help with the lilac color.

Hi Bruce, this is stunning! I can almost smell the lilacs.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. I have enjoyed painting these still life subjects. I'm glad you enjoyed this one.
ReplyDeleteHi Bruce,
ReplyDeleteI just found your Blog. I am curious as to your thoughts now on how this course is helping you. From your other works, it looks like you are already an accomplished painter ( lifelike portraits, accepted in juried art shows, plein air, still lifes, etc.)
It looks like a good course, that goes on into a Landscape course, and monthly classes on a continuing basis if needed. I am just getting started and find the idea of demonstration paintings being done a DVD a promising idea. Your thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks for checking in and saying hi! I've responded via email to your questions about Dan's course. The short version for here is that I can't recommend Dan Edmondson highly enough...particularly for the beginning or intermediate student painter. His still life course is a flat-out bargain!
